Just because prelim season is a time for testing doesn’t mean it’s not longer a time for learning. As told by The Office, here are just a few things we can learn from this most marvelous and preliminary of seasons.

We learn how to ask the right questions if something isn’t making sense.

We learn not to overestimate ourselves, but not to underestimate ourselves, either.

Especially when it comes to our ability to consume caffeine.

We understand that it’s important to make solid life decisions.

And the ability to deal responsibly with all of those conflicting adult obligations.

It’s a delicate balance between flat-out lying to ourselves and each other…

…and changing our names and disappearing forever from the scenes of our failures.

But you know what? While prelim season may be humbling, it’s also a reminder that it’s an achievement just to be here. We managed to make it into one of the most stressful schools in the country. So, if you think about it, to fail a prelim here is really an accomplishment. Because if you haven’t, how can you be sure you’re really at Cornell?
